Business Challenge

A leading automotive component manufacturer was facing significant IT challenges that impacted operational efficiency and network reliability. Outdated cables, IOs, and faceplates contribute to inefficiencies, while unstable internet connectivity causes frequent disruptions. The current setup lacks effective network performance monitoring tools, limiting visibility into network health and bottlenecks. Additionally, the use of unmanaged switches restricts control, monitoring capabilities, and overall network efficiency. Addressing these issues is critical to ensuring seamless operations and optimised network performance.
Technology Utilized
    • FortiGate 60F: Acts as the core firewall, providing security and centralized control for network traffic.
    • CiscoCatalystC1300: Reliable ,Highspeed networking with enhanced security.
    • FortiAP 231F/431F: Extends secure and high-speed wireless connectivity and performance.
    • Hikvision CCTV: High-definition surveillance and real-time monitoring for enhancedsecurity.

Transformation

ROX Hi-Tech successfully executed a comprehensive network transformation by replacing all switches with Cisco Catalyst C1300 models, which now manage both network and CCTV connectivity. The switches were configured with advanced features, including SSH, Telnet, VLANs, inter-VLAN routing, security profiles, SD-WAN, MAC deny rules, VPN, FortiTokens, FortiAP integration in the FortiGate firewall, and captive portal setups. Cable rewiring was completed with updated port numbering, proper cable dressing, and the installation of new IO faceplates. Additionally, a fully-loaded patch panel was integrated to route all switch connections through it, enhancing organization and operational efficiency.
